The final week of National Breastfeeding Month is celebrating Black Breastfeeding Week. Black Breastfeeding Week (BBW) is the sole health campaign with an explicit focus on Black maternal and infant health through breastfeeding.


It is the 10th year, of Black Breastfeeding Week which was created in 2013 by three national breastfeeding advocates in response to 40+ years of gaping racial disparities in breastfeeding rates among black women and families.

 

For #BBW22, the theme is 10 Years, A New Foundation and Black breastfeeding communities and advocates aim to celebrate of the countless stories and families - past, present & future. 


“The new foundation of lactation support is built on racial equity, cultural empowerment, and community engagement and is powered by our collective resilience,” states their website.


BBW was created in 2013 by three national breastfeeding advocates in response to 40+ years of a gaping racial disparity in breastfeeding rates.
